Updates to my garden

There’s something deeply satisfying about stepping into the garden each morning and noticing how much has changed overnight. Over the past few months, my home garden has slowly transformed into a greener, calmer, and more productive little corner of my life. It’s still a work in progress, but every new leaf, flower, and harvest makes the effort worthwhile.

This season, I focused mainly on improving the health and structure of the garden rather than simply adding more plants. I started by cleaning out older dried plants and refreshing the soil with homemade compost and organic fertilizers. The difference became visible within weeks. My vegetables began growing faster, the leaves looked healthier, and even the flowering plants seemed happier.

One of the biggest updates in the garden has been the addition of fresh herbs and medicinal plants. I planted lemongrass, tulsi, mint, and aloe vera in one dedicated section. Not only do they look beautiful together, but they are also incredibly useful in daily life. Fresh lemongrass tea from the garden has now become part of my evening routine, especially after a long day.

I also experimented with vertical gardening this time. Since space is always limited in a home garden, I used old containers and hanging pots to grow creepers and smaller plants. Tomatoes and beans have adapted surprisingly well to this setup. Watching them climb and spread has added a lively feel to the garden area.

Another exciting update has been the flowering section. Marigolds, roses, and seasonal blooms have started adding color to the space. I’ve noticed that more butterflies and bees now visit the garden regularly, which makes the entire area feel more alive and connected to nature. Sometimes I simply sit there in the early morning with a cup of tea and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Of course, gardening also comes with challenges. A few plants struggled because of excessive heat and sudden rainfall. Some leaves developed fungal spots, and pests attacked a couple of vegetable plants. Instead of using harsh chemicals, I tried natural remedies like neem spray and proper pruning. Thankfully, most plants recovered well. Gardening constantly teaches patience — not every plant thrives immediately, and that’s part of the journey.

One thing I’ve learned recently is that a garden does not need to look perfect to feel rewarding. Some pots are mismatched, a few plants grow unevenly, and there are always weeds trying to take over. But that natural, slightly untamed look gives the garden personality. It reflects real effort, care, and time.

Looking ahead, I’m planning to expand the vegetable section with chilies, spinach, and brinjal. I also want to improve rainwater collection and create a small shaded seating area nearby. Little by little, the garden is becoming more than just a hobby — it’s turning into a peaceful retreat where I can relax, learn, and reconnect with nature.

Every update in the garden reminds me that growth takes time, consistency, and care. And honestly, that lesson applies far beyond gardening too.

I have also ordered a few gardening products from Amazon to help with my update.
